Understanding Death Anxiety

Death anxiety—the fear or unease about death and dying—is a deeply human experience. For some, it may surface as a quiet undercurrent, while for others it can become an overwhelming source of distress. This anxiety may center on fear of the unknown, worries about pain or loss of control, concerns about separation from loved ones, or existential questions about what comes after death. In our culture, where open conversations about dying are often avoided, these fears can remain unspoken and grow in isolation.

As an end-of-life doula, I offer a supportive and nonjudgmental presence to help individuals and families explore these feelings. Together, we create space for meaningful dialogue, emotional processing, and spiritual reflection. Through education, companionship, and holistic practices, we can transform fear into understanding—and even peace. Acknowledging death anxiety is not about giving in to fear, but about reclaiming one’s voice, values, and choices at the end of life.
